One Day, Lifetime Impact
Navigating Retirement with Confidence and Purpose.

When you've worked so hard in your life and have finally reached the point where you have assets, relationships and influence, how do you navigate uncharted waters to leave behind something that matters?

“But there was a point when I began to wonder, is this really all there is? Do I just continue to build buildings for the rest of my life and grow my net worth? Or is there some other purpose that I was put on this planet? Is there maybe something I’m missing?" ~ Lloyd Reeb

Join us as we explore strategies to help you realize exactly what your retirement could be and the possibilities this phase of your life holds.

Keynote Topics

The New Retirement

Retirement is always changing. When Social Security was created, the average life expectancy was 61, today it is over 80. The threat of outliving our retirement savings has never been greater. When planning for retirement, we must remember that it will be unlike the retirement of our parents. We will most likely live longer and be in better health than past generations, yet our living expenses will continue to grow. This keynote discussion addresses the importance of having a plan in the “New Retirement” that takes all factors into account so we can confidently navigate these risks and have the retirement we desire.

The Trump Presidency and What to Expect Next: An Insider’s View on the First Three Months

Understanding the new President’s trajectory is critical to re-setting our own strategies for surviving and succeeding in Donald’s world. Having served four U.S. Presidents and three Presidential transitions, from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan, Steve can read the signals of what comes next from the Trump People, Policies and Process that will have an important impact on us: our standards of living, work and retirement.

Success To Significance

When all you’ve done on your own seems to matter less and your heart craves more meaning and joy … in this session Lloyd maps out with simple drawings, best practices and powerful stories how to move from a successful first half of life to a significant second half. This talk is based on Lloyd’s popular book “From Success to Significance”.

Breakout Sessions

Breakout 1 – Building A Thriving Family In Retirement

Lloyd Reeb, The Halftime Institute

Retirement can bring an opportunity to spend more time with your family. In this session, Lloyd will describe creative ways to continue to cultivate the kind of family you envision even after the kids are gone and have families of their own.

Breakout 1 – Federal Employee Benefits

Louise Olszewski, Retirement Training and Coaching Services, Inc.

This retirement overview provides federal civilian employees with an understanding of how their federal benefits will help them meet their retirement goals.  Employees will also learn the value of their federal insurances now and in retirement.  Participation in this overview will illustrate ways to maximize benefits that are offered to them as federal employees.

Breakout 1 – Social Security Benefits and Strategies

Jennifer Taboada, BlackRock

It is more important than ever to understand the role that Social Security benefits can and should play in your overall retirement income plan.  This session will provide an overview of how Social Security benefits work for you and your spouse, when and how to start receiving Social Security benefits, and opportunities to increase your benefits throughout retirement.

Please Note: Due to the popularity of Social Security Benefits and Strategies, the same presentation will be provided in Breakout 1 and Breakout 2.

Breakout 2 – The Great Withdrawal Rate Debate

Brett Danko,  Brett Danko Educational Center

We spend decades accumulating our nest eggs in 401ks and IRAs that will eventually support our retirement, then, upon retirement, we are faced with the great question of how much can we withdraw and not run the risk of depleting our assets. Let’s call this phase, the “decumulation” phase.  In this breakout, our speaker will offer some insight into the great debate of withdrawal rates and sequence of returns.

Breakout 2 – Who Is Finishing Well?

Lloyd Reeb, The Halftime Institute

The most creative and productive years of our life can be our second half. Many of us desire to use our wisdom, skills and influence to make a meaningful impact rather than the slow drift through retirement.  What are the key elements of finishing well?

Breakout 2 – Social Security Benefits and Strategies

Jennifer Taboada, BlackRock

It is more important than ever to understand the role that Social Security benefits can and should play in your overall retirement income plan.  This session will provide an overview of how Social Security benefits work for you and your spouse, when and how to start receiving Social Security benefits, and opportunities to increase your benefits throughout retirement.

Please Note: Due to the popularity of Social Security Benefits and Strategies, the same presentation will be provided in Breakout 1 and Breakout 2.

Breakout 3 – Behavioral Finance: Why we do what we do

Brett Danko, Brett Danko Educational Center

Conventional wisdom would lead us to believe that the majority of investors make rational decisions; those that impact their financial well-being, with well thought out fundamental practices.  While this may be true, there are many instances where emotion and psychology interrupt our natural path to success and good stewardship.  This session will offer a better understanding of behavioral finance and how it impacts a family’s financial goals.

Breakout 3 – Medicare: Make it work for you

Jake McDonald, Medicare Rights Center

The best way to maximize your Medicare coverage is to be prepared in advance of the transition. Find out when to enroll, how to save, and what to expect when you’re approaching your 65th birthday. During this session we’ll go over Medicare eligibility, what your new insurance covers, the typical costs for Medicare beneficiaries, and take a look at a few programs that can help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. We’ll also discuss how Medicare fits into the picture if you’re still employed at 65 – when to enroll and when it might be wise to delay enrollment.

Breakout 3 – The Evolving Cyber Threat

Darren Mott, FBI

In 2017, the one constant with regard to the threat posed by cyber actors is change.  From the early online hactivists to the current state of cyber criminals, nation state actors, and terrorists utilizing the evolving nature of computer networks to achieve their goals, this presentation will deal with how the cyber threat is constantly changing, how it impacts our daily lives, and what to expect in the future to protect your personal information and privacy.
